Overview

As a Project Engineer in the Capital Maintenance team, you will drive multiple Capital Maintenance schemes across Welsh Water assets on live sites. You collaborate with multi-discipline design and delivery teams to plan, program and mobilise works with minimal disruption. You manage internal resources and subcontractors, maintain strong client and stakeholder relationships, and ensure delivery processes and governance are followed. This role offers exposure to high-volume, regulated infrastructure work with opportunities for coaching and career development.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a portfolio of Capital Maintenance schemes across multiple sites, prioritising work to meet programme and budget
  • Collaborate with client operational teams and multi-discipline designers (Process, Structural, Electrical & Mechanical)
  • Lead construction stage documentation and obtain permits/approvals for site mobilisation
  • Coordinate internal resources and subcontractors through pre-construction, site investigation, design and construction on compressed timescales
  • Act as a primary link between the Client, third-party stakeholders and supply chain, ensuring clear communication and effective programming
  • Build and maintain relationships with stakeholders, displaying flexibility, resilience and a solutions-focused mindset
  • Mentor and coach team members during design, progress and site meetings
  • Contribute to programme reviews, cost management and compliance with delivery processes using Common Data Environments (CDE)

Key requirements

  • Experience delivering Capital Maintenance or minor works programmes in a regulated infrastructure setting
  • Understanding of NEC3/4 contractual requirements
  • Commitment to sustainable development and knowledge of current legislation
  • Solid knowledge of QA, H&S procedures and CDM awareness
  • Strong organisational and time-management skills with ability to prioritise across multiple live schemes
  • Adaptability to shifting priorities across sites and a willingness to learn new ways of working
