Network Engineer – Insurance

Overview

In this contract role, you will design secure enterprise networks for a large IT services provider working on an insurance-sector client. You will implement secure network zones, enforce policies, and analyze traffic to protect business applications. You will isolate critical assets and collaborate with security teams to respond to incidents and audit network boundaries. The position offers London-based work with client-site responsibility and IR35 considerations.

Responsibilities

• Design secure network zones using VLANs, subnets, and SDN
• Enforce security through firewall rules, ACLs, and micro-segmentation policies
• Monitor data flow to ensure policy compliance with business applications
• Isolate critical assets, IoT devices, and legacy systems from the main network
• Collaborate with security teams to respond to incidents and audit network boundaries

Key requirements

• 5+ years’ enterprise network engineering experience
• Strong TCP/IP, routing and switching knowledge
• Firewall technologies expertise
• Network segmentation and security principles
• Application connectivity and traffic analysis
• Experience with application dependency mapping and topology analysis
• Experience producing low- and high-level network designs
• Experience planning and executing enterprise infrastructure changes
• Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills
