Overview

In this role, you will advance engineering productivity at Wise by building and operating tools used by over a thousand engineers. You’ll shape technical direction, drive adoption, and lead change across teams. The focus is on secure, reliable, and easy-to-use developer tools that remove friction from the software lifecycle. You’ll work hands-on with production systems while mentoring and advocating for best practices. This is an AI-first, enterprise-scale initiative that emphasises collaboration and measurable impact.

Responsibilities

  • Own and operate agentic tooling used by engineers, including security, access, telemetry, and evaluation
  • Build an engineering knowledge base exposed via an MCP server to provide trusted internal context
  • Lead AI enablement across engineering through hands-on workshops and adoption campaigns
  • Develop and operate products that reduce friction from local setup to deployment and operation
  • Improve the developer portal and shared engineering services for easy access to tools and signals
  • Identify cross-team problems using research, feedback, and data, then implement software changes that save time
  • Foster adoption of tools through practical guidance and large engineering forums
  • Collaborate with teams to ensure tools are secure, reliable, and observable

Key requirements

  • Senior engineer with polyglot experience (Java, Go, TypeScript) and deep expertise in at least one
  • Strong track record of building and operating production software from design to reliable operation
  • Excellent software design judgment with clear boundaries, interfaces, and testable systems
  • Hands-on experience delivering real user stories with agentic tools
  • Passion for AI developer tooling and ongoing learning in the field
  • Experience building internal platforms or tooling used by other engineers
  • Experience leading large technical initiatives across teams and maintaining delivery momentum
  • Strong code review skills and ability to provide actionable feedback to peers
  • Ability to explain technical ideas to diverse audiences, lead workshops, and advocate for change across a large organization
