Overview
As Principal Ecologist at Arcadis, you will lead ecological projects within a diverse team, guiding technical delivery and client relationships. You’ll apply biodiversity expertise across assessments, strategies, and ecological chapters while mentoring others. You’ll work on high-profile developments and infrastructure projects, contributing to sustainable solutions that protect the environment. This role offers leadership, opportunity to influence scope and outcomes, and collaboration with industry leaders in a global firm.
Responsibilities
- quality control, coordination, and delivery of ecological tasks and projects
- lead and manage project delivery to meet time, budget, and SHEQ targets
- manage ecological aspects of client relationships to exceed expectations
- provide direction and technical advice within the team
- lead by example and mentor others
- support personal and professional development through mentoring and training
Key requirements
- detailed knowledge of ecological principles, biodiversity metrics, and EcIA guidance
- expertise with plant or animal groups and field survey skills
- proven track record in PEAs, Biodiversity Net Gain, Ecological Impact Assessments, and Ecology Chapters for Environmental Statements
- experience with Habitat Regulation Assessments
- strong commercial and project management skills; bid production experience
- ability to line manage or lead a team
- survey/mitigation licenses and knowledge of biosecurity and health and safety protocols
- Chartered Environmentalist or Ecologist (or nearing chartered status) and Full member of CIEEM
