Overview

As a Project Engineer on a state-of-the-art rail maintenance depot, you support Senior and Lead Project Engineers to steer a multi-disciplinary programme. You are an early technical contact for the design and build contractor, helping keep engineering activity on track. You’ll contribute to technical assurance, risk balancing cost, quality and schedule, and support CDM and NEC3 responsibilities. The role offers mentoring on the path to Chartership within a major infrastructure programme. London-based, with exposure to a cornerstone rail project.

Responsibilities

  • support technical assurance of design and construction activity across the depot programme
  • review contractor deliverables for compliance at each stage gate
  • participate in Technical Assurance Reviews and targeted checks
  • act as first point of contact for technical queries from the Design and Build contractor
  • develop solutions with specialists to balance quality, cost and programme
  • support NEC3 Supervisor duties and Principal Designer responsibilities under CDM 2015

Key requirements

  • background in civil engineering, with experience on depot-adjacent or comparable infrastructure (or systems engineering including track, signaling, OLE, MEP)
  • experience across multi-disciplinary programmes and managing competing demands of cost and programme
  • demonstrated ownership of career development and independent learning
  • strong stakeholder management and client-facing experience
  • ability to work with contractors and internal specialists from the outset
  • solid engineering qualification and working knowledge of UK construction regulations, including CDM
  • experience on infrastructure programmes at design or early construction stage
  • familiarity with NEC3 contract environments
  • rail/depot civils experience preferred
