Overview
In this role you will manage a portfolio of customer accounts to secure timely payments and maintain accurate records, supporting cash flow and monthly reporting. You will work with customers and internal teams to resolve invoice queries and minimise overdue debt, contributing to the wider finance function. Responsibilities
- Manage a portfolio of customer accounts ensuring timely invoice collection within terms
- Monitor aged debt and take action to minimise bad debt
- Allocate payments and keep customer records up to date
- Work towards monthly cash collection and receivables targets
- Handle held orders, credit limits, and customer master data
- Prepare cash forecasts and support monthly reporting
- Resolve invoice queries promptly and professionally; raise credit notes or communicate refusals
- Coordinate with the Transport team and arrange customer collections
- Raise stock correction invoices and process related forms
- Support month-end close and audits; maintain performance data and Pivot reporting
- Utilise relevant systems (courier websites, IFS) to support customer requirements
- Issue Letters Before Action per policy and follow up on overdue accounts
- Maintain EDI data accuracy and respond to inquiries via calls and emails
- Collaborate with Finance, Sales, Transport and other departments
Key requirements
- Previous credit control experience is essential
- GCSE Maths and English (A–C) or equivalent
- Experience with accounting software; IFS experience advantageous
- Strong IT skills with Excel and Microsoft Office
- Attention to detail and methodical approach
- Ability to meet deadlines under time pressure
- Strong analytical and critical-thinking abilities
- Excellent communication skills at all levels
