Overview

As a Design & Test Engineer, you will design and build complex engineering hardware and the test solutions that validate it. You will drive end-to-end activities from requirements to test results, developing rigs, fixtures, and instrumentation while analyzing data to understand hardware performance. You’ll work hands-on across design, integration, and commissioning, collaborating with mechanical, electrical, controls and systems engineers. This role offers exposure to the full engineering lifecycle and a direct impact on hardware readiness for demanding environments. You will contribute to robust test procedures and documentation, feeding findings back into future designs to improve quality.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop complex engineering hardware and test solutions
  • Plan and execute functional and performance testing
  • Develop test rigs, fixtures and test equipment
  • Instrumentation, sensors and data acquisition
  • Hardware assembly, integration and commissioning
  • Analyze test results and investigate failures
  • Root-cause analysis and engineering problem solving
  • Feed test findings back into future designs
  • Produce test procedures, reports and engineering documentation
  • Collaborate with mechanical, electrical, controls and systems engineers

  • Sensors and data acquisition systems
  • Mechanical design/CAD
  • Pressure, temperature, flow, vibration or environmental testing
  • LabVIEW, PLC, SCADA or test automation
  • Aerospace, defence, automotive, energy or other complex engineering environments
  • space-sector experience is advantageous but not essential
