Overview

As a Senior Mechanical Engineer in Stantec’s Delivery Center, you will manage diverse projects across mining, materials, oil & gas, and power/dams, guiding them from concept through completion. You’ll lead technical work, interface with clients, and mentor junior staff while advancing standardized templates and processes. Your role supports cross‑functional collaboration and continuous improvement across global design centers. Responsibilities

  • Perform advanced engineering design tasks across project phases with minimal supervision
  • Apply piping, pressure vessel, and other relevant codes and standards
  • Coordinate with stakeholders, clients, vendors, and consultants to define and align project specs
  • Ensure quality of deliverables per Stantec guidelines
  • Mentor junior staff and provide technical guidance
  • Develop design basis memorandums and standardized calculation templates
  • Prepare and review P&IDs, Process Flow Diagrams, isometrics, equipment and line lists
  • Lead project scoping, budgeting, and design approach for multiple projects
  • Engage in constructability reviews and client/contractor meetings
  • Act as engineer of record and ensure proper documentation across phases
  • Promote HSSE culture and contribute to safety programs

Key requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • 15+ years of mechanical engineering experience in mining projects
  • Professional Engineering designation with interjurisdictional eligibility
  • Experience with multiple project delivery models (E, EP, EPC, EPCM)
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical engineering specifications, tools, standards, and codes
  • Proficiency with mechanical design software (Autodesk, Bentley, Hexagon); AutoCAD, AutoPLANT, CADWorx, Caesar II, AutoPIPE, Inventor, PV Elite; and related tools (AFT, NozzlePRO, FEPipe)
  • Proven leadership and mentoring abilities
  • Excellent communication and written reporting skills
  • Ability to work across offices/geographies and manage competing priorities
  • Experience with PFDs, P&IDs, isometrics, equipment lists, line lists
