Overview

In this role you will drive the delivery of control systems and electrical design projects from concept to handover within Galliford Try’s Lintott Control Systems team. You’ll collaborate with customers, managers, software engineers and manufacturing teams to develop practical, compliant solutions that meet budget and schedule targets. You’ll contribute across tendering, design, manufacturing, testing and commissioning, influencing project outcomes and value. This is a hands-on position with a strong emphasis on integration, safety and customer relationships.

Responsibilities

  • Manage multiple projects from order to completion within safety, time, and budget constraints
  • Review client specifications and scope to develop suitable engineering solutions
  • Produce electrical designs (MCCs, control panels, LV systems) including drawings and BOMs
  • Specify electrical equipment (switchgear, drives, PLCs, instrumentation)
  • Support design reviews, meetings, and site surveys; liaise with manufacturing during panel builds
  • Support FAT, SAT, commissioning and handover activities
  • Coordinate suppliers, subcontractors, and internal stakeholders
  • Procure materials and services; maintain project documentation and test records
  • Identify value improvement opportunities while ensuring safety and compliance
  • Maintain positive customer relationships throughout the project lifecycle
  • Tendering and pre-contract support (review enquiries, develop technical solutions, prepare estimates)
  • Produce BOMs and obtain quotations; assess risks and exclusions; support handover to delivery
  • Collaborate with colleagues to develop cost-effective solutions; apply lessons learned

Key requirements

  • Electrical, Systems or related engineering expertise
  • Experience in project delivery and/or tendering support
  • Knowledge of MCC, control panels and LV electrical systems
  • Experience with switchgear, drives, PLCs and instrumentation
  • Ability to produce electrical schematics and BOMs; AutoCAD Electrical or similar CAD
  • Experience in FAT/SAT or commissioning; customer-facing collaboration
  • Commercial awareness and cost management for projects
  • Collaboration with PLC, HMI and SCADA engineers
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word)
