Overview

In this role you join a leading Big 4 firm in Glasgow or Edinburgh as an Auditor in Assurance. You will provide an independent view on clients’ adherence to accounting principles, supporting regulatory reforms and effective capital management. You will manage audit processes, lead fieldwork, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver robust assurance. The position offers strong training, progression, and exposure to diverse, high‑quality clients.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the audit process with attention to audit risk and accounting technicalities
  • Lead fieldwork on client sites and coordinate with other departments for smooth delivery
  • Demonstrate business development skills and identify additional sales opportunities
  • Apply solution-based problem solving to client assignments
  • Show expertise in UK GAAP and IFRS and related financial reporting
  • Undertake ad hoc business advisory work and identify process improvements
  • Prepare Management Letters for clients
  • Coach less experienced staff and contribute to effective team work
  • Provide on-the-job training and promote the firm’s audit methodology

Key requirements

  • Newly or recently qualified CA or ACCA
  • Good exam passes
  • Background in external audit from a UK mid-tier or smaller firm
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Knowledge of UK GAAP or IFRS
  • Ability to lead fieldwork and manage audit processes
  • Willingness to develop professionally within audit
  • Proactive in identifying process improvements and client service enhancements
