Economist – Real Estate Advisory

Overview

In this role, you will provide strategic economic analysis to support public sector investments, shaping business cases and investment decisions. You’ll work within the Real Estate Advisory team to assess estates and assets, quantify impacts, and develop robust casework for funding. You’ll engage with senior clients, lead analytical workstreams, and translate complex analysis into actionable policy insights. This is a client‑facing, impact‑driven position at a growth‑oriented firm with a strong emphasis on delivering value and enabling informed decision‑making.

Responsibilities

• Lead economic analysis for public sector business cases following HM Treasury Green Book guidance (CBA, VfM, welfare economics)
• Produce high-quality economic reports, business cases, and stakeholder presentations
• Design and develop economic models and analytical tools to support commissions
• Provide expert advice and training on economic principles to non-specialists
• Lead and facilitate workshops on economic appraisal, options development, and business case prep
• Build and maintain strong client and partner relationships

Key requirements

• Extensive knowledge of HM Treasury Green Book, Five Case Model, and UK government investment appraisal methods
• Experience with CBA, economic impact, forecasting, sensitivity, and distributional analysis
• Strong understanding of UK policy development and social value frameworks
• Proven ability to lead analytical workstreams and solve complex problems
• Excellent written and verbal communication; able to translate analysis into policy insights
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other analytical tools
