Associate – Catastrophic Injury / Large Loss-Bristol-2-5 PQE

Overview

In this role you join a national law firm’s Bristol team to handle high-value catastrophic injury and large loss claims. You will assist partners, manage your own complex caseload, and work closely with insurer clients to drive strategic outcomes. The position focuses on multi-track litigation, liability and quantum analysis, and developing client-facing solutions. You’ll contribute to the team’s growth and pursue opportunities in marketing and business development while delivering high-quality service.

Responsibilities

• Assist partners and manage a caseload across catastrophic injury and large loss matters
• Handle high-value motor, EL/PL, and cross-border claims; conduct liability investigations and quantum analysis
• Draft legal documents and provide client advice; manage interlocutory applications
• Take witness statements, review medical evidence, and conduct investigations
• Liaise with insurer clients to achieve strategic, commercially focused outcomes
• Manage files with adherence to court timetables, SLAs and MI requirements
• Support partners with client development, technical excellence and innovation
• Contribute to marketing and business development within the team and casualty group

Key requirements

• 2-5 years PQE (flexible for strong candidates)
• Experience handling catastrophic injury and/or large loss personal injury litigation
• Strong understanding of multi-track claims and complex liability/quantum issues
• Determined, adaptable and proactive approach
• Excellent communication skills and confidence dealing with insurer clients
• Ability to manage a busy caseload in a fast-paced environment
