Overview
In this role you shape and deliver complete CBW engineering projects for Williams F1, from concept to detailed design. You will work closely with R&D, production and multi-disciplinary teams to influence performance, reliability and manufacturability of cutting-edge automotive systems. You lead fault investigations, guide drawings and sign-offs, and mentor early-career engineers. You drive continuous improvement to raise design efficiency and quality. Responsibilities
- Create conceptual and detailed designs for vehicle components and structures
- Develop lightweight, efficient, cost-conscious solutions with attention to mass, stiffness and performance
- Produce supporting structural and functional calculations
- Collaborate with aerodynamics, vehicle science, electronics, chassis, stress, transmission, R&D, production and external suppliers
- Write technical procedures and system specifications
- Lead fault investigations and implement robust fixes
- Support drawing and assembly checking, and provide Class 5 sign-off with stress engineering
- Mentor student placements and help shape the next generation of engineering talent
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives to enhance design efficiency
- Act as a key contact for project allocation, supplier engagement, and user-acceptance activities
Key requirements
- Strong understanding of engineering design for components and assemblies
- Familiarity with CAD and engineering software used in vehicle design (NX experience a bonus – training available)
- Attention to detail and ability to deliver high-quality work under pressure
- Proactive, self-motivated mindset with the confidence to lead projects independently
- Positive, open, team-focused attitude with ability to inspire colleagues
