As Principal Mechanical Design Engineer, you lead the mechanical design process for large, complex building services projects. Responsibilities
- Lead the mechanical design process for large-scale projects
- Provide technical guidance through project lifecycle
- Oversee and review IES modelling outputs (hands-off modelling)
- Mentor and develop junior engineers
- Manage a small engineering team to meet deliverables
- Collaborate with electrical and environmental engineers for integrated designs
- Liaise with clients, stakeholders, and contractors
- Stay current with industry trends, regulations, and best practices
Key requirements
- 10+ years in building services mechanical design
- Proven experience on large-scale, complex projects
- Strong leadership and mentoring skills
- Proficiency in overseeing IES modelling outputs, with building performance understanding
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline
- Chartered Engineer status (or working towards it) is desirable
