Group Financial Controller

Overview

In this role you will lead the day-to-day finance function for a private equity-backed business near Cheltenham, focusing on technical accounting and strong financial controls. You’ll drive month-end and year-end closes, robust reconciliations, and accurate reporting in a fast-paced environment. You will own budgeting, forecasts, and cash-flow management while pursuing automation and ERP enhancements. This is a high-impact position with potential for development within a growing, transformation-oriented finance team.

Pay / Benefits

• £85,000-£95,000 salary

Responsibilities

• Oversee month-end close (P&L, Balance Sheet, cash flow)
• Lead year-end close with robust controls and auditor liaison
• Drive continuous improvement in the finance function, including automation, AI, and ERP optimisation
• Ensure robust balance sheet control, reconciliations, and reviews
• Lead annual budgeting and maintenance of rolling forecasts
• Cash flow forecasting and liquidity monitoring
• Manage debtors and creditors

Key requirements

• Fully qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA)
• Experience in a Private Equity-backed business
• Prior leadership experience in a BAU finance function and ability to coach/develop
• Experience in a tight cash flow control environment
