Fire & Security Engineer – Bristol and surrounding areas – £34k-£40k plus overtime

We are working with an established and growing fire and security business that is looking for an experienced Fire & Security Engineer to join its team, covering Bristol and the surrounding areas.

You will be joining a supportive team with organised scheduling, technical backup and the tools and equipment needed to deliver a great service.
What you will be doing
Your role will be predominantly service and maintenance focused, working across a range of residential and commercial sites.
Responsibilities will include:
- Servicing, maintaining and repairing fire alarm and electronic security systems.
- Working across CCTV, intruder alarms, access control and fire detection systems.
- Investigating faults and identifying practical, effective solutions.
- Completing smaller installation works and system upgrades when required.
- Attending reactive call-outs and helping customers resolve technical issues.
- Completing accurate service reports and technical documentation.
- Ensuring work meets relevant industry standards and health and safety requirements.
- Building positive relationships with customers and working closely with the wider service team.
- Participating in an out-of-hours call-out rota.
What we are looking for
- Around two to three years’ experience in fire and security engineering, ideally within service and maintenance.
- Hands-on experience with fire alarms, CCTV, intruder alarms and access control systems.
- Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills.
- A good understanding of relevant industry standards and compliance requirements.
- The ability to work independently and manage their time effectively.
- A professional, approachable manner when dealing with customers.
- A full UK driving licence.
Industry qualifications such as FIA or City & Guilds would be advantageous, as would knowledge of BS 5839, NSI, BAFE and IP-based security systems.
An 18th Edition qualification would also be beneficial but is not essential.
