We are seeking a Road Freight Account Manager to join our team!
The Road Freight Account Manager is responsible for managing road freight shipments and assigned customer accounts from booking through to final delivery. The role acts as a key contact for customers, coordinates with suppliers and internal teams, manages costs and quotations, and supports strong customer relationships and profitable operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and oversee road freight shipments from origin to delivery.
- Act as a main point of contact for assigned customers, providing accurate and timely updates.
- Collaborate with overseas offices, partners, suppliers and hauliers to arrange transportation.
- Negotiate and review supplier rates to support cost-effective solutions for customers.
- Select appropriate carriers, routes and service options based on customer requirements.
- Prepare customer quotations and monitor market rates in collaboration with relevant teams.
- Track shipment status and proactively manage delays, exceptions or service issues.
- Coordinate with suppliers and hauliers to support smooth and timely delivery.
- Complete invoicing, costing and file management accurately, maintaining appropriate profit margin.
- Support client relationship building, including customer visits with sales colleagues where required.
- Demonstrates clear, professional communication with customers, suppliers, colleagues and internal stakeholders.
- Works collaboratively, supports colleagues and contributes positively to team standards and customer outcomes.
- Takes a proactive and practical approach to problem solving, escalating issues early where needed.
- Shows strong attention to detail, personal ownership and commitment to accurate, timely work.

Key Skills and Relevant Qualifications
- Clear and confident communication with customers, suppliers, hauliers and internal teams.
- Strong organisation, prioritisation and attention to detail when handling shipments, documentation and costing.
- Able to identify problems early and respond in a timely and practical way.
- Positive, proactive and customer-focused approach to work.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team and contribute professionally to discussions.
- Competent user of relevant freight systems and Microsoft Office applications.
- Working knowledge of road freight operations and customer account management.
- Commercial awareness when quoting, costing and selecting carriers.
