Construction Project Engineer

Overview

In this role you will oversee the end-to-end construction lifecycle for AWS data centers, leading multi-discipline coordination from civil to commissioning. You will manage scope, schedule, budget, and contract administration on-site at a London data center, partnering with general contractors and vendors to ensure high-quality, energy-efficient results. You will shape the construction program, support a resilient data center fleet, and drive safety, quality, and on-time handovers. This is a hands-on leadership role in a fast-paced team delivering critical infrastructure.

Responsibilities

• Oversee construction activities for data center sites, owning scope, timeline, and budget
• Interface with general contractors through bidding, award, execution, and closeout
• Coordinate with contractors and vendors to deliver high-quality project turnovers
• Lead bid evaluations and contract negotiations; manage change orders and invoicing
• Prepare construction scope and RFPs; support capital requests and financial analysis
• Develop and execute commissioning plans and support commissioning process
• Review electrical and mechanical designs; perform submittal reviews
• Record and report key construction metrics to the team and management
• Act as a leader within the group and with cross-functional stakeholders
• Work on-site at a data center in London
• Support initiatives to increase data center resiliency
• Ensure compliance with planning, codes, and permitting processes
• Perform business case analysis to justify scope and financial position

Key requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent
• Vendor management experience
• Experience in data center or critical environment construction
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel)
• Experience as general contractor and in vendor management (RFPs, bidding, change orders, QC, RFIs) related to construction and project execution
• Experience in data center delivery (design, commissioning and construction) or equivalent industrial builds
