Overview

In this Senior Programmes Manager role, you lead the delivery of complex, high-risk programmes across their full lifecycle, from bid to post-delivery support. You’ll work within a cross-functional environment to ensure delivery on quality, time, and cost, while maintaining governance and financial control. You’ll build and motivate multidisciplinary teams, manage budgets and risks, and foster strong relationships with customers and suppliers. The role offers hybrid working with sites in Beckington, Bristol or Barnstaple, and opportunities to shape major defence engineering projects. Responsibilities

  • Lead delivery of complex, high-value programmes across full lifecycle (bid to post-project support)
  • Ensure on-time, on-budget delivery with robust governance and reporting
  • Lead and develop cross-functional programme teams and set priorities
  • Manage budgets, forecasts, risks, and opportunities to protect delivery confidence and profitability
  • Build relationships with customers, suppliers, subcontractors and internal stakeholders
  • Support complex bids and identify opportunities for repeat business
  • Drive proactive problem-solving, transition management and continuous improvement
  • Ensure robust programme planning, data accuracy and compliance with P3M, quality and safety requirements

Key requirements

  • Extensive senior programme/project management experience (10+ years) in UK defence, engineering or high-assurance environments
  • Experience delivering 10m+ programmes across full lifecycle
  • Proven leadership of large, multidisciplinary IPTs and high-performing teams
  • Strong financial and commercial management: budgeting, forecasting, risk management, performance control
  • Advanced planning and control skills: MS Project, EVM, Schedule Risk Analysis, configuration management
  • Excellent stakeholder management, negotiation and decision-making abilities
