We are recruiting on behalf of an established and growing accountancy practice for an experienced Account Manager to join their team in Melksham.

The successful candidate will manage a portfolio of client accounts and support a range of accounting, bookkeeping, VAT, payroll and compliance activities.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage a portfolio of client accounts and maintain accurate financial records
• Prepare management accounts and financial reports
• Assist with bookkeeping, bank reconciliations and ledger maintenance
• Prepare and review VAT returns and support HMRC compliance
• Support payroll processing and maintain payroll records
• Assist with year-end accounts preparation
• Monitor accounts payable, accounts receivable and client transactions
• Analyse financial information and investigate discrepancies
• Support audit preparation and respond to information requests
• Act as a key point of contact for client accounting queries
• Build and maintain strong professional client relationships
• Assist clients with accounting software and financial documentation
• Ensure compliance with accounting standards, HMRC requirements and internal procedures
• Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and efficiency
• Support accounting system implementation and process improvements

Skills & Experience

The ideal candidate will have:

• AAT, ACCA, CIMA, Finance degree or equivalent accounting experience
• Previous experience within an accountancy practice or finance environment
• Good knowledge of bookkeeping, VAT, payroll and financial reporting
• Experience using accounting software such as Xero, QuickBooks, Sage or similar
• Strong attention to detail and organisational skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• The ability to manage multiple client accounts and meet deadlines
• A professional and confidential approach to client relationships
