Overview

As Employment Partner, you will lead growth of the firm’s employment practice in Bath, expanding presence across Bristol and the Southwest. You will leverage an established client following to drive profitable work, build strategic client relationships, and shape service offerings and pricing. You’ll lead BD initiatives, cross-referrals, and internal collaboration to raise market position and revenue. This role combines strategic leadership with hands-on delivery, mentoring junior colleagues and steering the department’s plans. The opportunity appeals to a senior practitioner who enjoys shaping a growing regional practice within a national firm.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality, profitable work on your own matters
  • Build and strengthen relationships with clients and referrers
  • Agree service scopes, pricing structures and charging models
  • Demonstrate strong market and sector knowledge to provide robust legal advice
  • Contribute to departmental business plans
  • Lead successful BD initiatives and generate new business
  • Expand your network of clients, intermediaries and referrers
  • Develop internal cross-referral networks across the firm
  • Supervise, coach and delegate work to junior team members
  • Monitor departmental KPIs and contribute to overall performance
  • Keep abreast of legal/sector developments and feed into strategy
  • Drive elements of the department’s strategic plan, including service lines and product development

Key requirements

  • 7+ years’ PQE
  • Solid business plan and growth proposition for the Bath market
  • Strong client management and commitment to excellent service
  • Proven ability to win new business through BD
  • Experience managing a small team
  • Tribunal litigation experience (desirable)
