In this role, you will lead the maintenance team at Edinburgh Hospice to keep facilities safe, welcoming, and fully operational. You will apply your technical know-how to manage planned and reactive maintenance while upholding safety and compliance standards. You’ll contribute to delivering a high-quality facilities service across the site and support the care environment for patients, families, and staff. Responsibilities
- Lead a dedicated maintenance team to maintain buildings, grounds, equipment, and essential systems
- Plan and manage both preventive and reactive maintenance activities
- Support health and safety compliance and fire safety management
- Oversee contractor relationships and budget oversight within facilities context
- Deliver a high-quality facilities service across the hospice site
Key requirements
- Proven experience in team leadership, contractor management, and budget oversight in a maintenance or facilities setting
- Qualification in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering to at least HNC or NVQ Level 3, or equivalent
- IOSH accreditation (essential)
- Experience managing Building Management Systems (BMS) and carrying out PAT
- Strong understanding of health and safety legislation, including legionella control
- Proficient IT skills with Microsoft Office
- Excellent organisational, problem-solving, and communication abilities
- Experience in healthcare, hospice, or care environments is advantageous but not essential
