Overview

As an AI Architect at The AA, you shape the future of Enterprise AI to power intelligent products and services. You will work closely with engineering, data, product and security teams to design secure, scalable AI solutions that align with enterprise standards and business outcomes. This hands-on architectural role focuses on modern AI patterns, responsible AI, and governance while solving real business challenges. You will influence technology decisions, bridge gaps between technical and business stakeholders, and contribute to a broader AI roadmap. Your work supports The AA’s mission to innovate and expand its AI-enabled offerings across the organisation.

Responsibilities

• Design end-to-end AI and Generative AI solution architectures that are scalable, secure, and resilient, aligned with business outcomes
• Translate business challenges into pragmatic AI solutions, selecting technologies and patterns with clear rationale, trade-offs, and risks
• Design using AI patterns such as Retrieval Augmented Generation, LLMs, AI agents, orchestration, and enterprise integration
• Provide hands-on architectural guidance across design, build and implementation with engineering, data, product and security teams
• Act as technical authority for AI architecture, balancing innovation with security, governance, Responsible AI, and operational resilience
• Build relationships with senior stakeholders and influence AI adoption and roadmap across The AA
• Evaluate emerging AI technologies and patterns for value, fit, scalability, cost, and risk
• Contribute to reusable AI reference architectures and standards for consistent adoption

Key requirements

• Strong experience as Solutions Architect or Technical Architect delivering complex enterprise-scale solutions
• Practical experience designing AI or Generative AI solutions with clear architectural reasoning
• Strong understanding of modern AI architecture including LLMs, Retrieval Augmented Generation, embeddings, vector search, AI agents and orchestration
• Ability to evaluate technology options and articulate decisions, trade-offs and risks
• Hands-on approach staying close to engineering and delivery teams during design and implementation
• Experience designing secure, scalable, cloud-native solutions in Azure, AWS or comparable cloud
• Understanding of enterprise architecture considerations: APIs, security, data, observability, governance, operational resilience and Responsible AI
• Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication, translating complex concepts for varied audiences
