Overview

In this role you will deliver high-level designs and hands-on IT infrastructure work on secure projects for BT, collaborating with cross-functional teams to meet security and audit requirements. You will be embedded in a specialist security engineering team focused on protecting critical national infrastructure. The work is technical, on-site, and security-cleared, with opportunities to influence strategy and product roadmaps. This is a challenging, impactful role at scale that shapes secure connectivity for customers and partners.

Responsibilities

  • Manage implementation of high-level designs for stable network and infrastructure environments aligned with BT needs and security requirements
  • Lead maintenance and deployment of IT infrastructure components across services (network, security, storage, compute) per design standards
  • Provide advanced technical guidance to resolve complex issues for management and technical peers
  • Collaborate with application development, enterprise architecture, infrastructure and cyber security to implement a product roadmap
  • Oversee day-to-day support for internal tools and system health, and manage infrastructure for projects and customer contracts

Key requirements

  • Experience with virtualization technologies (VMware ESX, vCenter, vCF)
  • Windows/Linux/Mac server management experience
  • Containers/Kubernetes
  • NSX-T
  • Networking experience
  • Storage management
  • Scripting (PowerShell, Bash, Python, Java)
  • Automation and IaC tools (Ansible, Puppet, Terraform, Foreman, Kickstart, PXE)
  • Infrastructure automation/orchestration (preferably on VMware)
