Field Engineer

Overview

In this role you mature Helsing’s military AI products from proof of concept to large-scale rollout. You will test integrated software and hardware in lab and field environments, including drone operations, to ensure safety and reliability. You collaborate with software engineers, AI specialists, product managers and end users within a tight iteration loop. You will shape testing plans and deploy edge AI solutions, contributing to responsible and impactful defence tech at scale. Responsibilities

• Test end-to-end software and hardware in lab and field settings, and provide feedback to engineers
• Pack, transport, set up, run tests at test locations (e.g., airfields), then pack down
• Install AI software onto edge computing devices using in-house deployment tools
• Design and improve test plans and safety SOPs
• Define and secure resources to maintain field testing operations (hardware, tools, storage, security, etc.)
• Advise on training course design and in-service support procedures
• Travel to testing locations across the UK, France, Germany, and beyond

Key requirements

• Strong technical aptitude with systems-level understanding of hardware and software
• Excellent written and verbal communication; ability to document clearly and explain technical concepts
• Natural problem-solver who can own critical work streams and take initiative
• Passion for protecting liberal democratic values by contributing to the defence and security sector
