Overview
In this role you will serve as a senior in-house legal adviser to a consumer-focused business, partnering with senior leadership to manage commercial and regulatory matters. You will shape legal risk management across contracts, data protection, IP and advertising, while supporting product and business initiatives. The position offers autonomy, exposure to decision-makers, and a chance to influence the development of the legal function within a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities
- Advise senior management and key stakeholders on commercial, regulatory, and operational legal issues
- Draft, review, and negotiate commercial agreements (supplier, technology, SaaS, partnership, marketing, licensing)
- Assess contractual risk including IP, data protection, indemnities, and service levels
- Maintain customer-facing Terms & Conditions and promotional policies
- Provide guidance on consumer protection, advertising, and marketing requirements
- Review campaigns, communications, website content from a legal perspective
- Contribute to new products/services initiatives with a legal-by-design approach
- Manage disputes and oversee external counsel as needed
- Provide GDPR/privacy support and mitigate legal risks with stakeholders
- Instruct and supervise external advisers when specialist expertise is required
- Deliver legal training across the organisation and streamline risk management processes
Key requirements
- England & Wales qualified solicitor
- 5–8+ years PQE
- strong commercial and in-house background
- experience in commercial contracts
- consumer law and marketing/advertising knowledge
- IP and data protection familiarity
- excellent drafting, negotiation and stakeholder management
- ability to provide practical, commercially-focused advice
- confident working independently with a varied workload
- ability to engage with senior management and non-legal stakeholders
- advantageous but not essential: experience in regulated consumer sectors (gaming, lotteries, etc.)
