Overview

In this Senior Fire Engineer role, you lead performance-based and code-compliant fire strategies for diverse buildings, from healthcare to regeneration projects. You act as technical leader across project stages, guiding design, modelling, and regulatory compliance. You collaborate with cross-functional teams to embed fire safety across architecture, MEP, and structure. You will mentor junior engineers and contribute to thinking and growth of Stantec’s Fire Engineering capability. This is a client-facing, multi-office opportunity that combines technical excellence with business development in a thriving multidisciplinary environment.

Responsibilities

• Deliver performance-based and code-compliant fire strategies across healthcare, education, commercial, residential, life sciences and major regeneration projects
• Provide technical guidance through concept to handover, including fire and smoke modelling (CFD), evacuation modelling and smoke control strategies
• Lead major bids and oversee complex, multi-disciplinary schemes
• Ensure designs comply with regulations and Stantec quality processes (ADB, BS 9991, BS 9999, NFPA, EN)
• Build and maintain relationships with clients, architects, developers, contractors and approval authorities; lead client meetings and workshops
• Champion fire-safety integration across Architecture, MEP, Structural, Transport, Environmental and Project Management teams
• Support growth of the Fire Engineering service, assist with fee proposals, bid writing and strategic pursuits
• Mentor junior Fire Engineers and contribute to internal thought leadership and knowledge sharing

Key requirements

• Experience producing fire strategies for complex buildings
• Proficiency in FDS, PyroSim, Pathfinder or similar modelling tools
• Strong communication skills to present technical matters to clients
• Experience in a consultancy environment on multidisciplinary projects
