Electrical Product Safety Engineer

Overview

As an Electrical Product Safety Engineer at SGS, you will conduct rigorous safety testing of electrical products in the lab and on client sites, ensuring compliance with standards and ISO/IEC 17025:2017. You will support both laboratory and on-site activities while contributing technical expertise to the team and helping grow the business. You will help maintain accreditation and deliver trusted, client-focused services. This role combines hands-on testing with documentation and compliance to uphold quality and safety for a diverse range of products.

Responsibilities

• Perform electrical safety testing in laboratory and client-site environments
• Prepare accurate test reports and certification documentation in line with accreditation requirements
• Manage workloads to meet timelines, budgets, and departmental targets
• Support calibration and maintenance of test equipment to ensure ongoing quality
• Uphold health & safety standards and adhere to company policies including Code of Integrity and EDI guidelines

Key requirements

• Proven experience as an Electrical Safety Engineer or in a similar role; experience with test and measuring equipment (e.g., multimeters, oscilloscope)
• Essential: Bachelor in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent); Alternative: HNC/HND in electrical engineering with relevant experience
• Desirable: Full Driving Licence (UK)
• Familiarity with EU/UK safety directives
