Overview

In this role you will lead mechanical building services on London projects, ensuring design quality and timely delivery. You will collaborate across design and construction teams to meet Employers Requirements and drive efficient M&E coordination. You’ll manage design workshops, RFIs, and installation drawings to support safe, maintainable, and cost-effective outcomes. The opportunity combines technical leadership with a focus on sustainable infrastructure and cross-functional delivery.

Responsibilities

  • Input and evaluate M&E designs at tender and cost-planning stages
  • Lead and chair design workshops with design teams
  • Monitor M&E design information and interfaces with architects/structurals
  • Raise and manage technical queries and RFIs
  • Contribute to tender lists for M&E sub-contractors and major plant
  • Assess supply chain tenders for specification compliance and value
  • Coordinate liaison with sub-contractors for order, interface, and erection readiness
  • Engineer contractors’ responsibilities like fan/pump sizing and associated details
  • Prepare and approve technical submissions for Mechanical Plant & Equipment
  • Oversee delivery of plant/equipment to meet programme and testing
  • Produce and sign off coordinated installation drawings for design compliance and safety
  • Manage CDP specialists (e.g., Sprinklers, BMS)
  • Prepare and monitor client/design changes
  • Liaise with construction team and site inspections

Key requirements

  • Engineering degree or equivalent
  • Experience in Construction industry within Building Services
  • Ability to manage workload and meet deadlines
  • Good knowledge of mechanical systems and coordination requirements
  • Strong IT skills (Excel, Word) and ability to use other software
  • Previous management experience beneficial
