Overview

As a Multi-Skilled Engineer, you help keep Chessington’s rides safe, reliable and high-performing. You will work within a skilled engineering team on mechanical and electro-mechanical systems, performing inspections, preventative maintenance and repairs. You’ll rebuild ride vehicles, brake assemblies and pneumatic components, while supporting major overhauls and continuous improvement projects. This role offers hands-on challenges in a safety-critical setting, with opportunities to develop specialist skills and contribute to memorable guest experiences.

Responsibilities

  • Carry out daily safety-critical inspections using PPM task plans on rides and attractions
  • Perform reactive maintenance and repairs tracked by work orders
  • Execute preplanned maintenance including strip-downs and rebuilds of ride vehicles and mechanical brake assemblies
  • Inspect mechanical and electrical components and diagnose faults
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records, reports and logs for compliance
  • Apply 5S / LEAN workshop standards and assist with spare parts auditing and ordering
  • Support major overhauls, refurbishment projects and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Work at height where required during operational season

Key requirements

  • ONC, NVQ level 3 or BTEC equivalent in engineering
  • Post-apprenticeship/qualification experience
  • Inspection experience advantageous
  • Understanding of COSHH and statutory requirements
  • Ability to read and use engineering drawings
  • Problem solving and diagnostic skills
  • Experience with planned preventive maintenance systems
  • Engineering experience from any sector acceptable for this role
  • Familiarity with using technical manuals and risk assessments
