OLE Engineer – Rail

Overview

You will drive railway electrification design, checks and approvals across design and construction activities. You’ll produce OLE layouts, bonding plans, cross sections and isolation diagrams, and prepare technical specifications and reports. The role blends design office and site work, aligning with UK and international standards to deliver safe, compliant solutions. This is a hands-on, cross-functional position with exposure to diverse railway clients and project scopes.

Responsibilities

• Prepare design drawings (OLE layout plans, bonding plans, OLE cross sections, isolation diagrams)
• Prepare design reports and submissions
• Prepare technical specifications and technical reports
• Conduct site surveys and coordinate with design and construction teams
• Ensure compliance with railway standards (UK and international)
• Work in both design office and site environments
• Support the OLE design team with technical input and checks

Key requirements

• HND and/or degree in mechanical engineering
• Desirable chartered engineer or working towards chartered status
• Familiarity with construction methods and materials
• Reasonable IT skills
• Knowledge of railway engineering standards and practices
• Hold a PTS certificate
• Previous experience in an OLE design team
