Overview
In this role, you will support real-time control, outage planning and system readiness within SSEN Transmission’s Control Centre. You’ll shape operational strategy and standards for future network projects, while strengthening regulatory compliance and emergency preparedness. You will collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure safe, reliable operation during critical events. Responsibilities
- Act as expert support for control teams across planning, commissioning and real-time operation
- Lead long-term and operational resilience planning and documentation
- Ensure Network Control compliance with Operational Safety Rule, Grid Code, System Operator – Transmission Owner code, and OFGEM requirements
- Produce operational guidance notes, processes and procedures for the control room
- Represent the team in internal and external working groups and engage with industry partners (OFGEM, NESO, TO & DNO)
Key requirements
- Deep knowledge of electrical power systems and related operation/design standards
- Strong understanding of electricity industry interfaces with regulators and operators
- Excellent communication skills for reports and stakeholder engagement
- Ability to analyse emergency planning, business continuity and incident management in real-time control
- Degree level qualification (preferably Electrical Engineering) or equivalent experience (HNC with relevant experience)
