Overview

In this Lead Software Engineer role, you join a cross-functional, agile Data Analytics team to build trusted market-leading technology for cross-asset market data using KDB, as we migrate to AWS and embark on greenfield projects. You will shape scalable real-time and historical data solutions, drive code quality and operational stability, and mentor peers. This position offers impact through architecture decisions and collaboration with stakeholders to deliver high-value data capabilities in a secure environment.

Responsibilities

  • Develop secure, production-grade software and troubleshoot complex problems
  • Lead design reviews, code reviews, and optimization across KDB-based solutions
  • Identify and automate recurring issues to improve reliability
  • Foster communities of practice and promote new technologies
  • Contribute to team culture, diversity, equity, and inclusion
  • Develop core systems and frameworks based on KDB
  • Manage a book of work and lead SDLC improvements
  • Build scalable real-time processing solutions in an agile setting
  • Partner with stakeholders to capture requirements and deliver solutions
  • Collaborate with application support to maintain platforms

Key requirements

  • Formal training or certification in software engineering concepts
  • Hands-on experience in system design, application development, testing, and operational reliability
  • Proficiency in automation and continuous delivery methods
  • Strong understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle and agile methodologies (CI/CD, security, resiliency)
  • Development lead experience: requirements capture, task decomposition, delivery planning, testing, user acceptance testing
  • Deep understanding of KDB and Q language with at least 7 years of KDB experience, plus 2+ years in a lead role
  • Experience with KDB+tick data design, large datasets, query optimization, and scaling KDB apps
