Overview

As Group Leader for the Bristol-based EC&I&S team, you will steer technical leadership, project delivery and people growth in safety-critical environments. You’ll drive complex engineering programs, ensure regulatory and governance standards, and collaborate across multidisciplinary teams to meet client needs. This role combines mentoring, stakeholder management and business growth to expand capability and deliver innovative control, instrumentation and security solutions. You will act as a client-facing technical lead, shaping requirements and advancing high-quality outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical, operational and people leadership for the EC&I&S team
  • Support business growth through client engagement, bid support and capability development
  • Ensure successful delivery of projects within safety, quality, cost and schedule constraints
  • Develop and mentor engineers, supporting professional development and succession planning
  • Foster effective collaboration across multidisciplinary project teams
  • Maintain high standards of engineering governance, compliance and technical excellence

Key requirements

  • MEng in Electrical & Electronic Engineering or equivalent
  • Strong practical knowledge of process control systems
  • Experience with safety-critical systems and relevant standards (IEC 61513, IEC 61508, IEC 61511, ISO 13849, DO-178, DO-254)
  • Experience mentoring engineers and leading multidisciplinary projects
  • Experience in consultancy or engineering services environment
  • Previous supervisory or line management experience
  • Knowledge of project management methodologies and frameworks
  • Understanding of EC&I documentation (SLDs, P&IDs, BCDs, electrical schematics)
  • OT cybersecurity understanding and related certifications desired (ISA/IEC 62443, GIAC)
  • Chartered Engineer status and functional safety certifications are advantageous
