Overview

In this role, you will lead the integration of the onboard autonomy stack on Jacobsen vehicles, bridging prototype development to production-ready autonomous platforms. You’ll work on vehicle-level systems, safety-critical architecture, and embedded implementation to deliver reliable autonomous irrigation and turf-care solutions. You’ll collaborate with cross-functional teams to validate sensor suites and control interfaces in real-world field trials, contributing to safe and efficient autonomous performance.

Responsibilities

  • Lead integration of autonomy stack (perception, localisation, planning, control) onto vehicle platforms
  • Design and implement safety systems, including safety controllers and safe stop functionality
  • Develop and integrate embedded software and vehicle control interfaces (CAN, drive-by-wire)
  • Define and deliver sensor integration (LiDAR, radar, cameras, GPS/IMU)
  • Execute vehicle-level testing and validation, including field trials
  • Support functional safety activities (HARA, safety case, certification readiness)
  • Other duties as required

Key requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Robotics/Mechatronics or similar
  • Minimum of two years’ experience in autonomous or robotic systems integration
  • Strong understanding of functional safety (ISO 13849 / ISO 12100)
  • Experience with embedded systems and real-time control
  • Knowledge of sensor systems and vehicle interfaces (CAN)
  • Hands-on experience with system testing and validation
  • Self-motivating and able to work with low levels of supervision to defined objectives
