Systems Engineer III

Overview

In this role you will help design, operate, and continuously improve cloud-based enterprise environments for Mendeley. You’ll work with cross-functional teams to deliver reliable, secure, and scalable infrastructure while embracing automation and DevOps practices. You’ll contribute to IaC initiatives and resolve operational challenges to sustain performance across multiple environments. Responsibilities

• Design and implement cloud infrastructure within architectural guidelines
• Diagnose and respond to system alerts and operational exceptions
• Advocate and apply infrastructure best practices
• Develop scripts and IaC for automation
• Participate in change management with proper testing and documentation
• Collaborate with development, support, and platform teams
• Provide daily support through proactive monitoring and issue detection
• Configure and maintain cloud components across environments

Key requirements

• Cloud infrastructure experience with AWS, Azure, or GCP
• IaC experience using Terraform, CloudFormation, or similar tools
• Linux administration and scripting (Bash, Python)
• Familiarity with Docker and Kubernetes
• Understanding of CI/CD and DevOps practices
• Experience with system monitoring tools (e.g., New Relic)
• Knowledge of change and incident management processes
• Good oral and written communication skills
