Overview

In this role you will lead the technical delivery of complete automation projects within Bilfinger’s Fareham team, shaping robust PLC/SCADA solutions for diverse sectors. You’ll collaborate with the Project Manager and engineers to meet scope, budget, and deadlines, while mentoring colleagues and driving reusable modular designs. You will also champion safety and quality throughout the project lifecycle and contribute to sales and proposal support. This is a hands-on, impact-driven engineering role in a growth‑minded, sustainability‑oriented company.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver end-to-end technical solutions for automation projects
  • Collaborate with Project Manager on scope, budgets, and schedule
  • Allocate tasks to engineering team and monitor progress
  • Ensure adherence to technical and quality requirements and company processes
  • Identify opportunities, variations, and manage risks/issues
  • Promote reuse through modularization of systems and standardisation
  • Prototype new technologies and contribute to training
  • Mentor engineers and support sales/proposals
  • Provide Health and Safety leadership and site presence
  • Involvement in handover, design, test specification, and on-site commissioning

Key requirements

  • Full project lifecycle experience from specification to commissioning
  • Delivery of detailed design documentation
  • Hands-on PLC and SCADA experience
  • Understanding of control panels, electrical installation and instrumentation
  • Degree or HND/HNC in Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Control Systems or relevant discipline
  • Chartered Engineer or working towards professional registration
  • Pro-active and collaborative team player
  • Mentoring and coaching abilities
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management
  • PLC and SCADA implementation
  • Rockwell, Siemens, Schneider familiarity
  • AVEVA or Ignition platforms
