Overview

As a Systems and Tooling Engineer, you will lead and implement world-class operational strategies in a high-precision automotive setting. You will drive continuous improvement and lean initiatives to boost productivity and quality at the McLaren Production Centre. You’ll develop and maintain advanced tooling systems, with a focus on digitally connected torque wrenches, shaping manufacturing technology strategy. This role combines hands-on tooling development with cross-functional collaboration to sustain world-class manufacturing.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop and implement advanced tooling systems, focusing on electronic digitally connected torque wrenches
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate new technologies into existing manufacturing processes
  • Test and validate tooling systems for reliability and accuracy
  • Monitor, analyze and improve system performance; implement solutions
  • Provide technical support and training on new tooling systems to manufacturing personnel
  • Stay updated on industry trends to keep manufacturing at the forefront of innovation
  • Develop and maintain tooling system documentation (manuals, procedures, troubleshooting)
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives to achieve World Class manufacturing
  • Lead projects with planning, execution and delivery, managing budgets and stakeholders to meet milestones

Key requirements

  • Degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality Management or suitable industry experience
  • Minimum of 5 years in a manufacturing / production launch environment
  • Experience with low volume high-cost product manufacturing
  • Experience with Industry 4.0 technologies and smart manufacturing systems
  • Leading and managing cross-functional teams in a manufacturing environment
  • Strong technical knowledge to align decisions with company goals
  • Ability to drive continuous improvement and resolve manufacturing & product issues
  • Experience with programme / business governance and developing others
  • Highly motivated and resilient
