Cost Estimator – Defence – All Levels

Overview

In this role you will deliver high-profile cost estimates for large-scale defence and infrastructure programmes within Turner & Townsend’s Defence South East team. You will contribute to a range of estimation outputs to support client decision-making, from early Order of Magnitude to detailed first-principles estimates, while collaborating with a high-performing team. The role combines technical estimation with data analysis, benchmarking, and best-practice development to help clients achieve their objectives. This is a chance to work on complex programmes in a security-conscious environment, with clear impact on project outcomes and client delivery.

Responsibilities

• Produce accurate, comprehensive estimates and cost plans for projects in a timely manner
• Control and manage the estimating process at project level
• Produce estimates with minimal supervision
• Assist in gathering and sharing estimating data
• Support development and promotion of estimating best practices
• Contribute to achieving departmental objectives
• Stay updated on technical developments to provide best-practice guidance

Key requirements

• Qualified in Estimating or Quantity Surveying with relevant experience
• Experience in estimating and/or QS services in large project environments
• Experience with estimating software packages
• Membership of a professional body with chartered status or working towards
• Desirable: membership of RICS and/or CIOB
• Desirable: understanding of MoD procedures (inferred)
