Overview
In this role you will lead structural and seismic design for complex defence, research, and nuclear facilities in Adelaide, guiding projects from concept to delivery. You will provide NSQEP-level technical leadership, ensure compliance with codes and safety requirements, and mentor engineers within multidisciplinary teams. You will deliver advanced analyses, support nuclear safety cases and regulatory submissions, and help grow AECOM’s technical capability and client relationships. Responsibilities
- Lead the structural and seismic design of complex buildings and safety-critical facilities in defence, research and nuclear sectors
- Provide NSQEP-level technical leadership and oversight ensuring codes and safety requirements are met
- Deliver advanced structural/seismic analysis including dynamic assessment, seismic qualification, and resilience studies
- Manage multidisciplinary project teams, coordinating with clients, stakeholders and technical specialists
- Review and assure the quality of structural deliverables across all project phases
- Support nuclear safety cases, regulatory submissions and technical justifications for complex projects
- Mentor engineers and contribute to growing AECOM’s technical capability and client relationships
Key requirements
- Bachelor or Master in Civil or Structural Engineering; postgraduate seismic or nuclear qualifications advantageous
- 15+ years of structural engineering experience including seismic and safety-critical projects
- NSQEP experience or work in regulated nuclear environments
- Chartered Engineer and Registered Professional Engineer (or equivalent)
- Strong knowledge of Australian and international seismic, nuclear and structural design standards
- Proficiency in advanced structural analysis software (FEA, ETABS, SpaceGass, RAPT)
- Proven leadership and project delivery skills in multidisciplinary settings
- Ability to obtain defence clearance (AUKUS)
