Overview
As an Engineering Manager, you lead mechanical design teams focused on aero engine components and assemblies, guiding delivery across the full product lifecycle. You drive technical excellence, stakeholder alignment, and cross-functional collaboration to meet safety, cost, schedule, and manufacturability goals. You foster a culture of ownership, continuous improvement, and high-performance delivery. This role offers impact in shaping complex turbomachinery design within a global digital services and engineering ecosystem.
Responsibilities
- Lead design and integration activities for aero engine components and assemblies
- Guide gated reviews and secure technical buy-offs for robust, producible designs
- Plan, prioritise, monitor, and improve delivery performance while developing team capability
- Mentor and coach engineers, align objectives with project needs
- Own delivery governance including planning, risk management, and stakeholder communication
- Coordinate across design, analysis, manufacturing, and supply chain to ensure integrated product maturity
- Deliver 3D models, digital assemblies, general arrangements, and models for stress analysis as needed
- Ensure manufacturability and producibility by interfacing with design and manufacturing teams
- Achieve Right First Time and On Time Delivery by monitoring KPIs and driving improvements
- Address arisings from fleet, perform root-cause investigations to improve safety and reliability
- Apply knowledge of turbomachinery components and materials to support design decisions
- Utilise CAD and PLM tools (NX, Teamcenter) and Model Based Definition as applicable
- Mentor junior staff and foster a culture of accountability and continuous improvement
- Collaborate with stakeholders to manage changes and ensure conformance to standards and procedures
Key requirements
- 10+ years of turbomachinery experience in gas turbine power or aviation sector
- Experience with CAD and PLM (Siemens NX, Teamcenter)
- Proven mentoring and team performance management
- Strong stakeholder management and clear communication
- Ability to balance technical, delivery, and people dimensions
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Knowledge of GD&T ASME Y14.5 and mass properties
