Overview

In this Director, Business Risk role within Global Payments & Trade, you will strengthen the first line risk framework and drive governance, transparency, and issue-driven execution across a globally regulated payments platform. You’ll translate strategic risk priorities into practical actions, delivering executive reporting and leading cross-functional governance discussions. The position offers visibility to senior leadership and impact on risk governance across a high-impact, client-facing franchise. You will shape risk management culture and partner across product, operations, technology, compliance, and audit to protect the platform’s integrity.

Responsibilities

  • Support execution of the platform’s risk strategy with senior leaders
  • Develop executive reporting, dashboards, and governance materials for risk visibility
  • Drive first line governance across leadership forums, risk reviews, and control committees
  • Oversee issue and escalation management with cross-functional coordination and clear updates to leadership
  • Identify emerging risks and opportunities to strengthen control environment and information governance
  • Support process and control improvements across payments and trade workflows, including remediation oversight
  • Build partnerships across first, second, and third lines of defense to reinforce risk ownership
  • Contribute to team leadership through mentoring and sustaining a high-performing environment

Key requirements

  • Strong track record in business risk, controls, governance, or related disciplines within financial institutions
  • Domain knowledge in payments, transaction banking, cash management, or trade finance
  • Experience with risk governance, operational risk, issue management, control frameworks, and audit/regulatory engagement
  • Ability to translate complex risk information into executive-level reporting and insights
  • Strong stakeholder management and influencing capability with senior stakeholders
  • Analytical capability with Excel, Power BI, or Tableau; familiarity with SQL, Alteryx, or Python would be advantageous
