Overview
As a Power Systems Engineer, you act as a technical leader delivering detailed power system studies and design packages for UK energy projects. You will work with a specialist team to translate client needs into robust electrical solutions, ensuring safety, compliance, and timely delivery. This remote-first role emphasizes collaboration with client engineering managers and occasional site visits to support FEED and detailed design phases. You’ll tackle challenging HV/LV systems and grid code compliance while shaping impactful energy infrastructure.

Responsibilities
- Lead design and development of electrical systems for new and existing facilities
- Perform power system studies (load flow, short circuit, arc flash, transient stability, harmonics)
- Serve as primary technical interface for clients and translate requirements into robust designs
- Produce technical reports, specifications, tender documents, and design justifications
- Ensure outputs comply with UK safety standards, UK Grid Codes, BS, and DNO requirements
- Provide engineering deliverables on time and within budget for FEED and detailed design phases
- Support project managers with technical inputs and risk assessments
Key requirements
- BEng or MEng in Electrical Engineering ( Chartered status is preferred but not required)
- strong experience in a design consultancy or similar energy sector environment
- proficient in power system analysis software (ETAP, DIgSILENT PowerFactory, PSS/E, PSCAD)
- deep technical understanding of HV/LV systems, protection philosophies, and UK utility regulations
- strong communication skills and ability to present complex technical findings to clients
