Overview
In this role you will support major utility and infrastructure projects by securing land rights and advising on land and property matters. You work closely with landowners, farmers, and project teams to balance commercial delivery with doing the right thing on the ground. You’ll manage wayleaves, easements, and land acquisitions, while ensuring compliance and accurate records. The role combines people-focused negotiations with technical land rights work, across London and the South West.
Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality land and property advice on behalf of clients
- Secure land rights including wayleaves, easements, temporary possessions and land acquisitions
- Negotiate compensation claims fairly and professionally with agricultural impact and reinstatement in mind
- Collaborate with design and delivery teams to ensure proposals meet consenting requirements
- Build trusted relationships with landowners, farmers, agents, clients and internal stakeholders
- Communicate clearly and confidently, managing expectations and resolving issues
- Lead collaborative working on projects, often based from site or project offices
- Maintain accurate records, provide client updates and ensure KPIs are met
- Support and mentor junior team members where appropriate
- Ensure compliance with legislation, best practice and professional standards
- Maintain CPD and stay up to date with legal and technical developments
Key requirements
- RICS qualified, newly qualified, or qualified by experience
- Strong agricultural and rural land knowledge
- Experience negotiating compensation and understanding reinstatement obligations
- General understanding of infrastructure or construction methods
- Familiarity with wayleaves, easements, land acquisition, CPOs and environmental consents (desirable)
- Strong communication, negotiation and stakeholder management skills
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel
