Overview
As an Electrical Engineer on AWS AIS, you design and continuously innovate electrical systems powering global data centers. You will lead multi-million dollar projects from concept through construction, collaborating with diverse specialists to deliver resilient, cost-effective solutions. You’ll work with generators, UPS, switchgear, transformers, and building electrical systems, ensuring safety, code compliance, and high uptime. This role places you at the heart of AWS infrastructure, shaping scalable, reliable power delivery for customers worldwide. You will own design specifications, site reviews, commissioning, and technically guide projects across regions.

Responsibilities
- Electrical design of data center power distribution and equipment in construction documents
- Coordinate site selection reviews and planning activities
- Design of critical equipment (generators, UPS, MV/LV switchgear, transformers, Earthing, Life Safety, Fire Detection)
- Create construction document sets in collaboration with other disciplines
- Ensure designs meet quality and budget requirements
- Engage with regional vendors, manufacturers, and utilities for equipment and site requirements
- Ensure compliance with IEC, EU requirements and local building codes
- Review and approve equipment submittals
- Define project scope and provide technical support during construction
- Support commissioning, testing, and validation of electrical systems
- Manage concurrent projects across multiple regions
- Travel to sites for reviews and field engineering support
- Lead within global teams and drive innovative solutions
- Provide design clarity and practical, out-of-the-box thinking
Key requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related field
- Knowledge of critical data center mechanical and electrical equipment
- Experience in data center design, construction, operations, or facility maintenance
- Experience in industrial or commercial engineering in mission critical facilities
- Experience researching new designs, technologies, and construction methods for data center equipment and facilities
