Associate – Derivatives and Structured Products

Overview

In this role you join Freshfields’ London derivatives and structured products team within the GMAC finance practice. You will handle a mix of transactional and advisory work for banks, corporates, sponsors, and other market participants on cross-border deals. You will collaborate with global colleagues to deliver market-leading solutions across asset classes, focusing on complex derivatives and prime brokerage, among others. You will contribute to client relationships, business development, and knowledge sharing, supporting the firm’s reputation for top-tier transactional advice.

Responsibilities

• Deliver transactional and advisory services on derivatives and structured products
• Draft and negotiate complex legal documentation clearly and efficiently
• Supervise and mentor junior lawyers
• Build and maintain client relationships and contribute to business development
• Coordinate with global colleagues on cross-border deals
• Manage workload and deadlines in fast-paced environments

Key requirements

• Qualified solicitor in England and Wales or equivalent common law qualification
• 2–5 years PQE in derivatives at a leading law firm
• Strong academic record (degree and LPC)
• Excellent written and oral communication
• Team player with leadership potential and ability to supervise juniors
• Proactive in business development and knowledge management
