OLE/OLEC Engineer – Rail

Overview

In this role you will lead OLE engineering design and delivery for major rail projects in the UK, shaping overhead electrification solutions from feasibility through to construction. You will work within multidisciplinary teams on Network Rail and LU initiatives, ensuring work is delivered on time, to budget and specification. Your expertise will underpin technical reports, design checks, and client-facing communications, enabling safe, reliable electrification deployments. This is a hands-on, leadership-heavy role with a strong impact on project outcomes and delivery scope.

Responsibilities

• Lead conceptual, outline and detailed design for OLE solutions across allocation, basic and construction design phases
• Coordinate feasibility studies, technical reports, and related documentation
• Oversee design, allocation, construction design and delivery, operations assessments for OLE
• Ensure delivery aligns with programme, budget, and specifications
• Review and approve OLE engineering solutions
• Lead multi-disciplinary teams to deliver large or portfolio-scale projects

Key requirements

• Significant experience in Overhead Line Electrification
• Knowledge of the UK Rail industry
• Strong communication with clients and design teams
• Degree educated; MIET membership
• Extensive experience leading UK rail projects
• Experience in design and construct rail projects
• Proficient in MS Word and MS Office
• Valid PTS training and experience
• Driving licence desirable
