Overview
In this role you will help shape the development of Control, Command and Signalling (CCS) systems for a major UK rail programme. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to define and challenge technical requirements, focusing on how control, signalling and traffic management interact across the wider railway. Working at the conceptual design stage, you influence solutions before they reach detailed design and delivery, contributing to a technically ambitious project. Your expertise will guide interfaces, standards interpretation, and stakeholder alignment to drive safe, integrated rail operations.

Responsibilities
- Develop and challenge technical requirements for CCS and related signaling systems
- Work in concept design and early scheme activities to shape solutions
- Evaluate interactions between control, signaling and traffic management within the wider railway
- Review and challenge proposed technical solutions and standards implications
- Collaborate with engineering specialists, suppliers and project delivery teams
- Support multidisciplinary rail engineering environments with a focus on interfaces and integration
Key requirements
- Extensive experience in rail signalling, control systems or CCS engineering
- Strong understanding of railway control systems and their relationship with signaling
- Experience in development, design or technical assurance of modern railway systems
- Experience operating within multidisciplinary rail engineering environments
- Solid grasp of systems interfaces and integration
- Ability to review and challenge technical requirements and solutions
- Ability to interpret the purpose and wider implications of standards
