Overview

As an Industrial Process Engineer in the Space Department, you support space propulsion sub-systems across bidding, NPI, and manufacturing. You’ll help secure new projects while ensuring efficient, compliant production and cleanroom readiness. Your work strengthens manufacturability, quality, and safety, balancing short-term shop-floor needs with long-term improvements. This role offers hands-on process leadership in a high-precision, aerospace environment with opportunities to train staff and implement new technologies.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain manufacturing instructions and training plans
  • Support daily production to resolve manufacturing issues
  • Provide cleanroom support during new process and product development
  • Liaise with internal/external customers to resolve manufacturing issues and drive non-conformance solutions
  • Prepare and update Bills of Materials and support Make vs Buy decisions per ERP/MRP
  • Specify, purchase, and manage tooling within the Tool Management System
  • Support specification, selection, and commissioning of new production equipment
  • Maintain and improve departmental procedures
  • Collaborate with Engineering to ensure manufacturability and compliance with quality & industry standards
  • Supply estimating information to support bids for new projects
  • Assess and support vendor manufacturing capabilities for critical purchases

Key requirements

  • An HND in engineering (essential); a degree in engineering preferred
  • Minimum 3 years engineering experience, of which 2 in a Manufacturing Engineering role
  • Knowledge of product life cycle, MRL/PRR, APQP, PFMEA, Control Plans, PFD
  • Experience with assembly processes (mechanical, electrical, machining, treatments) and Bills of Materials
  • Financial awareness and configuration management
  • CAD proficiency
  • Experience with ERP/MRP and tooling management
  • Understanding of cleanroom protocols and safety requirements
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Ability to balance short-term shop-floor demands with long-term solutions
  • Effective prioritisation and task management
