Overview

As Engineering Manager for the Ingest team, you lead a distributed group of backend and frontend engineers to deliver Fleet Management, the Kubernetes Monitoring Helm Chart, and the Instrumentation Hub. You partner with product, engineering, and GTM to ensure a seamless observability experience for Grafana Cloud customers. You foster a high-performing, psychologically safe culture that emphasizes quality, experimentation, and customer impact. This remote role offers a chance to shape how customers collect and act on observability data at scale.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and grow a remote engineering team across EMEA and NASA
  • Collaborate with go-to-market to ensure successful observability data collection journeys
  • Align Fleet Management, Kubernetes Helm Chart, and Instrumentation Hub with end-to-end user experience
  • Guide the project lifecycle from ideation through planning, execution and post-launch
  • Foster psychological safety and a culture of continuous improvement
  • Collaborate across teams to solve customer problems beyond the immediate scope

Key requirements

  • Experience in Observability (OpenTelemetry) or building a central control plane managing fleets of collectors
  • Comfort leading autonomous engineering teams, with strong decision-making
  • Strong communication skills across time zones and cultures
  • Ability to manage complexity, align stakeholders, and elevate team performance
  • Customer-focused mindset influencing technical decisions with real-world impact
  • Solid understanding of distributed systems concepts like scalability, fault tolerance, and observability
  • Familiarity with AI-assisted tooling and willingness to integrate it into workflows
